AWS Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Design & Delivery

• Design and develop modern cloud-based data platforms leveraging AWS services.
• Build and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines.
• Support batch processing, streaming, and near real-time data integration requirements.
• Enable scalable analytics, business intelligence, and downstream data consumption solutions.

Architecture & Platform Governance (Architect-Level Focus)

• Define and maintain enterprise-level data platform architecture standards on AWS.
• Design scalable data lake, lakehouse, and data warehouse environments.
• Establish standards for data ingestion, modeling, governance, and access management.
• Ensure solutions align with security, networking, identity management, and cost optimization best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across delivery teams.

Data Engineering & Analytics

• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and reporting datasets.
• Implement data quality, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
• Support advanced analytics and AI/ML workloads where applicable.

Operations, Security & Optimization

• Implement monitoring, performance tuning, and cost management controls.
• Apply governance and security standards aligned with enterprise policies.
• Support CI/CD processes, environment management, and platform lifecycle activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and platform standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, engineers, and data teams.
• Provide guidance on AWS data services, architecture decisions, and implementation trade-offs.
• Support mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team, particularly at senior levels.

Qualifications & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with AWS data and analytics technologies.
• Hands-on expertise with data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures.
• Strong SQL and data modeling capabilities.
• Experience with both batch and streaming data processing.
• Understanding of cloud security, IAM, governance, and cloud cost optimization practices

Experience Requirements

AWS Architect

• 10+ years of experience in data and analytics.
• Extensive experience designing large-scale AWS data platforms.
• Strong background in cloud architecture, data strategy, and enterprise solution design.

AWS Consultant

• 6+ years of experience in data and analytics delivery.
• Proven experience implementing modern data platforms on AWS.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and solution delivery experience.

AWS Developer

• 4+ years of experience in data and analytics.
• Hands-on experience developing solutions using AWS data services.
• Strong focus on implementation, development, and technical delivery.

Preferred Certifications

• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty (preferred)
