Job Description
This 12-month fixed-term contract focuses on designing, delivering and operating an AWS data platform that underpins analytics, machine learning and operational reporting. The role requires ownership of infrastructure-as-code, deployment pipelines and platform tooling to ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective data flows from ingestion through to serving layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate scalable AWS infrastructure for data workloads using IaC.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform and data product deployments.
- Implement lakehouse and serving layer patterns to support analytics and ML workloads.
- Apply security, governance and compliance controls across the platform.
- Monitor platform health and lead performance tuning and incident response.
- Manage platform costs and optimisation initiatives (FinOps).
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to define platform APIs and operational playbooks.
Requirements
- Proven experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering or DevOps for data platforms.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services and IaC tools such as Terraform or CDK.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD tooling and pipeline development.
- Understanding of lakehouse concepts, data ingestion patterns and serving architectures.
- Strong security, observability and operational excellence mindset.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting; systems thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with multi-account AWS setups and FinOps is highly desirable.
