AWS Devops Manager
Summary
Lead a small DevOps/cloud team in a player-coach role: own the AWS architecture roadmap, CI/CD standards, reliability/SLOs and incident response, security posture and cloud cost. Core tech: AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, Lambda), Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker/Kubernetes and monitoring stacks.
About the role
We are looking for a DevOps Manager to lead our DevOps and cloud function on AWS. You will own the delivery pipeline, infrastructure reliability, security posture and cloud cost, and manage a small team of DevOps and cloud engineers. This is a player-coach role: you set direction and standards, and stay close enough to the work to review designs and help in incidents.
What you will do
- Lead and grow the DevOps/cloud team: hiring, onboarding, goal setting, code and design reviews, and performance feedback.
- Own the AWS architecture and roadmap for infrastructure, covering reliability, scalability, security and cost.
- Define and maintain CI/CD standards across all backend and frontend services, from build to production release.
- Drive infrastructure as code adoption and keep environments (dev, staging, production) consistent.
- Own observability, on-call, incident response and post-incident reviews. Set SLOs and track reliability metrics.
- Own disaster recovery, backup and high availability plans, and test them regularly.
- Partner with security and compliance on IAM, network security, secrets management, audits and certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Manage cloud budget: track spend, forecast, and lead cost optimization work.
- Work with engineering and product leads to plan releases, capacity and infrastructure needs.
- Evaluate and manage tooling and vendors.
- Maintain runbooks, documentation and clear ownership for every service.
What we are looking for
- 8+ years in DevOps, cloud or infrastructure engineering, with 2+ years leading a team.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, Lambda).
- Strong experience with Terraform or CloudFormation and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar).
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes or ECS.
- Solid understanding of networking, Linux, TLS, DNS and load balancing.
- Experience with monitoring and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog or similar).
- Experience handling security reviews and compliance audits.
- Track record of improving release speed and reliability, and of managing cloud cost.
- Clear communicator who can work with engineers, product and leadership.
Nice to have
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional).
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot services in production.
- Experience with real-time audio/video or media workloads.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- FinOps experience.
Why join us
- Own the infrastructure and delivery strategy of a growing product.
- Build the team and practices rather than inherit a fixed process.
- Work directly with engineering leadership and the people shipping the code.
