Azure Architect

We are looking for a seasoned Azure Architect to head the Azure component of a multifaceted project spanning multiple platforms and disciplines, guiding integration architecture for enterprise observability, ITSM, monitoring, and developer portal systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish the integration architecture—covering API contracts, data models, authentication patterns, and event flows—linking Backstage to enterprise observability, ITSM, and monitoring platforms
• Build out monitoring integration capabilities by embedding dashboards like Grafana/LGTM into each catalog entity, addressing entity-to-dashboard mapping and authentication passthrough
• Develop the ArgoCD integration, encompassing plugin integration, API authentication, entity-annotation mapping, and RBAC projection, to deliver deployment-status visibility inside the developer portal
• Manage the announcements and notifications integration, including configuring upstream plugins, setting up notification channels such as email and Teams webhooks, and handling publisher RBAC to enable platform-wide communication
• Set up databases visibility integration using read-only metadata collectors for Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres, plus a search integration leveraging Elasticsearch/pgsearch backend and catalog/TechDocs indexers
• Build the SDD document generation capability, determining how architecture documentation gets produced from repository/catalog metadata and infrastructure-as-code module outputs, initiated via Backstage actions/templates
• Create dashboards, reporting, and enterprise-integration views spanning Backstage, infrastructure, and integration workstreams to guarantee consistent, permission-aware display of service health and dependency information
• Work closely with the Backstage Architect to align plugins and data models, and collaborate with the Azure and VMware Architects to ensure infrastructure telemetry and metadata surface properly within the portal
• Oversee integration-architecture governance throughout implementation, confirm end-to-end service visibility, and assist with monitoring, reconciliation, and documentation-generation processes during rollout

Requirements

• 3+ years architecting system integrations involving Azure and Azure DevOps
• Deep knowledge of Azure/Entra authentication mechanisms
• Background integrating cloud database platforms—Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres—for read-only metadata and observability needs
• Track record leading projects with intricate architectures spanning Azure-based services and third-party platform integrations like VMware and networking devices
• Experience building automated documentation-generation pipelines sourced from structured metadata
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Background integrating infrastructure management platforms built on Backstage or comparable frameworks
• Familiarity with notification and communication integration tools
