Role Overview

We are looking for an Azure Cloud Architect – Linux SME with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Linux administration, cloud architecture, and infrastructure modernization. The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting highly available and secure Azure cloud environments, with a strong focus on Linux-based workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Azure cloud infrastructure architectures for enterprise Linux workloads.
• Act as a Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud infrastructure, migration, and operational activities.
• Design Azure solutions using services such as:Azure Virtual MachinesVirtual Networks, Subnets, NSGs and Azure FirewallLoad Balancer / Application GatewayAzure StorageAzure Monitor and Log AnalyticsAzure Backup and Site RecoveryAzure Kubernetes Service (AKS)Azure Key Vault
• Lead Linux workload migration from on-premises/data centers to Azure.
• Architect solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and performance.
• Perform Linux server administration, configuration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting.
• Manage and troubleshoot RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, CentOS/Rocky Linux or similar distributions.
• Implement Linux security standards, OS hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls.
• Configure and manage Linux networking, storage, filesystems, LVM, NFS, DNS, SSH and system services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational activities using Terraform, Ansible, Azure CLI and PowerShell.
• Work with DevOps teams on CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, and Kubernetes.
• Define cloud governance, security, monitoring, backup, and operational standards.
• Analyze infrastructure performance and provide recommendations for optimization and cost reduction.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Azure, Linux, networking, storage, and application infrastructure.
• Prepare architecture documents, technical designs, migration plans, operational procedures, and implementation guides.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor infrastructure/cloud engineering teams.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud Architecture.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Expertise in RHEL / SUSE / Ubuntu Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, compute, storage, security, IAM and monitoring.
• Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
• Strong knowledge of:TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPSFirewalls, VPN, routing and load balancingLinux system performance and troubleshootingStorage and filesystem management
• Experience with Terraform and/or ARM/Bicep.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Knowledge of Git, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with cloud security, identity and access management.
• Strong understanding of HA/DR, backup and business continuity.

Good to Have

• Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
• Linux certifications such as RHCE/RHCSA.
• Experience with AKS/Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with Azure landing zones and enterprise-scale cloud architecture.
• Knowledge of Azure Arc and hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud migration tools such as Azure Migrate.
• Knowledge of ITIL, SRE and infrastructure governance.
• Experience working in large enterprise environments.
