We are supporting a Dutch technology consultancy that is hiring an experienced Azure Data Engineer to work on cloud data platforms, Azure-based ETL pipelines, Databricks solutions, and scalable data engineering projects.

This role is ideal for a Dutch-speaking Azure Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience across Azure, Databricks, CI/CD pipelines, data modelling, data transformation, and cloud-based analytics environments.

Azure Data Engineer Role Overview

As an Azure Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimise data pipelines and cloud data platforms within Microsoft Azure environments. You will work closely with consultants, engineers, stakeholders, and client teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure data solutions.

This opportunity will suit someone who has a strong technical foundation in data engineering, understands how to build robust ETL workflows, and can help clients turn raw data into clean, reliable, and business-ready datasets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and optimise Azure-based data pipelines and ETL workflows.
  • Develop scalable cloud data platforms using Azure, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and related technologies.
  • Work with PySpark, data modelling, data transformation, and validation processes.
  • Improve reporting accuracy and data quality through robust data checks and clean pipeline design.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Work closely with client teams to understand data requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure optimisation, secure platform support, and data platform improvements.
  • Help bridge the gap between raw data infrastructure, business logic, and analytics outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Commercial experience as an Azure Data Engineer, Data Engineer, Cloud Data Engineer, or Azure Consultant.
  • Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure data services.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, ETL pipelines, and cloud data platforms.
  • Experience with PySpark, data modelling, data transformation, and data validation.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, cloud security, and scalable engineering practices.
  • Ability to work in consultancy, client-facing, or staff augmentation environments.
  • Fluent Dutch language skills.
  • Based within commutable distance of the Zwolle / Overijssel region.
Desirable Skills
  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineering certifications such as DP-203 or DP-201.
  • Experience with Power BI or analytics/reporting environments.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or Azure platform optimisation.
  • Background in software engineering, React, Scrum, or modern development practices. xgiwjmb
