A major bank is seeking an Azure DevOps Engineer with strong AKS expertise to join a customer reliability engineering team on a 12-month contract.Role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne- 2 days a week in the office
This role will suit a hands-on cloud engineer who is passionate about building reliable, automated and scalable platforms, with a clear preference for engineering-led delivery rather than traditional operations support.
You will work across Azure cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, automation and platform reliability, supporting a multi-cloud environment as teams combine under a new operating structure. While Azure is the primary focus, exposure to broader cloud engineering environments will be valued.

Key responsibilities
- Engineer, automate and support Azure cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on AKS.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable reliable, repeatable and secure delivery.
- Build and enhance Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Contribute to customer reliability engineering outcomes, improving resilience, availability and performance.
- Work closely with platform, engineering and reliability teams to uplift automation and operational maturity.
- Apply strong engineering practices to solve platform challenges, avoiding manual or reactive operations where automation is possible.
- Strong hands-on Azure cloud engineering experience.
- Deep AKS experience, including platform build, administration, troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Solid automation and engineering capability across cloud infrastructure environments.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Experience working in an SRE, reliability engineering or platform engineering environment is highly desirable.
- Background in large enterprise environments; experience within a top-tier banking or financial services environment will be highly regarded.
