Position Overview

The Principal Workplace Technology & Infrastructure Architect serves as the primary authority for designing, strategic planning, and modernizing Client’s global endpoint ecosystems, cloud infrastructure (including Azure), and enterprise network architecture. Moving beyond routine administration, this role conducts rigorous architectural reviews of existing systems, authors greenfield design patterns, defines best practices, and delivers high-level strategic recommendations to executive leadership to ensure maximum scalability, resilience, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Endpoint Architecture & Greenfield Design

• Architecture & Blueprinting: Design global endpoint management frameworks from scratch, establishing enterprise blueprints for Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and cloud-native device lifecycles across Windows, macOS, and iOS environments.

• Apple Enterprise Strategy: Formulate the strategic integration of Apple devices within the corporate ecosystem, reviewing current deployments and defining modern MDM standards using Kandji, Jamf, or custom management frameworks.

• Standards & Governance: Author foundational packaging, patching, and compliance standards to be adopted enterprise-wide, delegating ongoing execution to operational teams.

• 2. Strategic Cloud Infrastructure & Identity Architecture

• Azure & Multi-Cloud Architecture: Lead strategic architectural reviews of Microsoft 365, Azure tenant topologies, and hybrid environments, providing roadmap recommendations for scalability, efficiency, and high availability.

• Identity Architecture (IAM/Zero Trust): Architect enterprise identity topologies incorporating Entra ID, Active Directory, and Okta. Define Zero Trust access models, identity federation patterns (SAML, OAuth, OIDC), and granular RBAC governance.

• Information Protection Strategy: Architect security and compliance frameworks utilizing Microsoft Purview (DLP, eDiscovery, Audit) aligned to corporate governance objectives and regulatory standards.12

• 3. Enterprise Network Architecture & Connectivity

• Global Network Blueprinting: Design end-to-end network architecture for global offices, establishing standardized Meraki, WAN/LAN, SD-WAN, and cloud connectivity templates.

• Infrastructure Assessment & Modernization: Regularly review global office networks, identify architectural bottlenecks, and propose technological upgrades for physical layer, IP routing, and wireless infrastructure.

• Infrastructure Modernization: Evaluate global network topology, identify architectural bottlenecks, and formulate strategic upgrade paths for routing, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.

• Strategic Vendor Engagement: Establish technical requirements and SLAs for ISPs, network hardware manufacturers, and cabling engineering partners for high-impact capital projects.

• Cloud Networking & Secure Access: Architect VPC topologies, transit routing, ExpressRoute/VPN tunnels, and Secure Service Edge (SSE) patterns in collaboration with Information Security.

• 4. System Engineering Standards & Infrastructure as Code

• SaaS Integration Patterns: Define enterprise integration standards and security baselines for SaaS ecosystems (Box, Zoom, Slack, Atlassian).

• Automation Frameworks: Establish automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and Infrastructure-as-Code practices to standardize orchestration across cloud and workplace environments.

• Architectural Guidance & Best Practices: Publish global engineering standards and architecture reference models, mentoring engineering staff and providing tier-4 structural oversight for critical incidents.

• 5. Strategic Leadership & Transformation

• Strategic Architecture Roadmaps: Own the long-term technological vision for workplace systems, delivering strategic recommendations and multi-year transformation roadmaps to executive leadership.

• Executive & Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with C-suite executives, Cybersecurity leads, and Enterprise Architects to align workplace technology design with broader business goals.

• Resilience & BCP Architecture: Architect Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies to eliminate single points of failure across enterprise environments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Enterprise Systems, or a related quantitative field.

• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 4+ years dedicated to enterprise systems architecture or cloud architecture.

• Proven track record of designing greenfield enterprise architecture and auditing legacy systems to drive transformation.

• Deep expertise in Azure Architecture, hybrid identity frameworks (Entra ID, Okta), and Zero Trust network models.

• Demonstrated experience establishing architectural governance, best practices, and enterprise reference models.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate strategic technical visions to executive stakeholders.

• Experience with GitHub Workflows and API automation pipelines.

• Experience with Okta Administration (SSO, SCIM, group management) and Zoom Rooms AV administration.

• Familiarity with Linux operating systems, CLI tools, and networking subsystems.

• Administrative experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) and Adobe Creative Suite

• Aligned to Central Time (CT) operations, working out of a primary office location.

• Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time for office buildouts, upgrades, or team initiatives

• Availability for occasional off-hours or weekend emergency support for critical system updates, incidents, or maintenance windows.
