Azure Platform & DevOps Engineer

Summary

Own and evolve the Azure cloud platform and DevOps pipelines for a fintech investment firm, ensuring secure, scalable infrastructure and reliable CI/CD for Python and legacy C# apps.

Amstelveen | Azure | CI/CD | Python | Up to €85,000 annually

Build the platform behind a technology-driven investment firm

Not every engineer wants to work in an environment with multiple management layers, narrowly defined responsibilities and limited influence.

Some are looking for the opposite.

On behalf of our client Ostrica, a technology-driven investment management firm based in Amstelveen, RIXT.IT is looking for an Azure Platform & DevOps Engineer who wants to take ownership of the foundation on which the business operates.

This is a role for someone who enjoys responsibility.

Someone who understands that great software does not start with code, but with a secure, reliable and scalable platform that allows innovation to thrive.

About Ostrica

Ostrica combines technology, data and investment expertise to support investment management activities and investment operations.

Technology is not a support function. It is a strategic enabler of the business.

The organisation is compact, entrepreneurial and highly knowledge-driven. Decision-making is fast, communication lines are short, and you will work directly with business stakeholders and leadership.

You will report directly to the Managing Director and play an important role in shaping the future of the technology landscape.

The Opportunity

Unlike many organisations, parts of the business actively develop their own solutions in Python.

Your primary responsibility is not building applications from scratch.

Your responsibility is to ensure that software is reviewed, tested, deployed and operated according to professional engineering standards.

You will own the Azure platform, improve operational excellence and establish the processes that allow internally developed applications to move safely and reliably into production.

The role is approximately:

80% Azure Platform, Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps

20% Python, code reviews and application support

What will you be doing?

As Azure Platform & DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the technology foundation that enables the business to develop, deploy and operate applications securely and efficiently.

Working closely with business stakeholders and leadership, you will take ownership of the Azure platform, software delivery processes and infrastructure standards that support Ostrica's operations.

  • Designing, building and maintaining infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code
  • Managing and continuously improving the Microsoft Azure environment
  • Ensuring platform reliability, performance, security and scalability
  • Establishing and maintaining governance, monitoring and operational best practices
  • Identifying opportunities to optimise infrastructure and cloud services

DevOps & Software Delivery

  • Designing, maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
  • Supporting testing, implementation, release management and production deployments
  • Improving delivery reliability, automation and operational efficiency
  • Contributing to architecture decisions and technical standards across the organisation

Software Quality & Application Support

  • Reviewing Python applications developed by business teams
  • Supporting and maintaining existing applications and services
  • Assisting with the maintenance of legacy C# applications where required
  • Ensuring solutions meet standards for quality, security and maintainability
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and resolving technical issues

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Supporting architecture and technology roadmap discussions
  • Providing technical guidance and best practices across the organisation
  • Helping teams automate workflows and optimise existing processes
  • Maintaining technical documentation throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Contributing to process improvements, standardisation and platform maturity
  • Driving a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement

What are we looking for?

You are an analytical and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for technology and a strong sense of ownership.

You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and feel comfortable operating in an environment where you are given significant responsibility and the freedom to make an impact. Working in a small team energises you.

You are proactive, curious by nature and continuously looking for ways to improve platforms, processes and software quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure or similar public cloud platforms
  • Experience managing cloud environments and production workloads
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps or GitOps practices
  • Strong understanding of platform governance, security and operational excellence
  • Solid Python skills, including the ability to review, assess and improve application code
  • Experience designing and working with APIs and microservices
  • Good knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with both technical and business stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with FastAPI, asynchronous programming and modern Python frameworks
  • Experience with SQLAlchemy or other ORM frameworks
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or similar)
  • Experience with Docker and containerised environments
  • Experience with C#/.NET or willingness to support existing C# applications
  • Experience within financial services, fintech or investment environments
  • Interest in technology, automation and financial markets

What’s in it for you?

At Ostrica, you will join a technology-driven organisation where you can genuinely influence the way technology is built, governed and deployed.

In return, you can expect:

  • An attractive salary package of up to €85,000 gross per year
  • A 13th month salary and a competitive pension scheme
  • Opportunities to earn performance-related bonuses
  • 25 vacation days, plus approximately 5 additional days off when Euronext is closed
  • Full reimbursement of travel expenses
  • Flexible working hours with the possibility to work from home occasionally in consultation
  • A generous training and development budget for courses, certifications and professional growth
  • Direct access to decision-makers and the opportunity to influence technology strategy
  • A high degree of autonomy and ownership within a compact and entrepreneurial environment
