Description

B2B Marketing Manager, CX and Research Software

South Africa (Remote, Johannesburg or Cape Town)

Salary & package

The package includes a base salary and a performance-related element linked to the qualified opportunities marketing creates. We'll be happy to discuss the details, including how the role is structured, and your salary expectations early in the process to make sure there's a good fit on both sides.

We're partnering with a global software company to grow its business in South Africa, and we came away from our briefing with its leadership team genuinely excited about this opportunity.

What makes this exciting

It's a founder-led software company that's been growing for over 20 years, and many of its leaders have been with the business for a long time. This is its first marketing hire in South Africa, so you'll build the function from the ground up, with real ownership and direct access to senior leadership.

The culture is flexible and international, with people trusted to manage their time and deliver results.

The South Africa team is small and set to grow, and you'll have the support of an established global business behind you.

You'll be marketing a platform that brings together surveys, market research, customer and employee experience, used by leading enterprise organisations around the world.

The role

This is a hands-on B2B marketing role with one clear purpose: creating new-business pipeline for the sales team. Success is measured in qualified opportunities, not likes or impressions.

You'll plan and run events from start to finish, including a flagship customer event in February 2027, so you'll need to hit the ground running. You'll build campaigns, run them in HubSpot, and work closely with sales on which accounts to target. Your buyers will include Heads of CX, customer experience and insights leaders, and research and marketing teams, with a focus on financial services and insurance amongst others.

You'll start as a team of one, doing the work yourself rather than briefing others. The team values pace: someone who can take an idea today and run with it tomorrow.

What you'll bring

  • 5 or more years in B2B marketing, ideally for a software or technology company
  • Events you've run from start to finish that produced measurable pipeline
  • Hands-on HubSpot skills: lists, forms, landing pages, emails, workflows and reporting
  • Results you can show in numbers: leads, qualified opportunities or revenue your campaigns produced
  • Strong writing for email and LinkedIn
  • A plus: marketing CX, research, data or marketing software, account-based marketing, AI tools, or knowing enterprise buyers in financial services or insurance
  • Based in South Africa and able to work here

This probably isn't the right role if

  • Your experience is mainly in consumer (B2C) or brand marketing
  • You prefer managing agencies or teams rather than executing campaigns yourself
  • Your marketing has never been measured on pipeline or revenue
  • You haven't used a CRM or marketing automation platform yourself
  • You'd rather follow a plan than build one

Where it leads

You'll shape how marketing works in South Africa, with the freedom to decide what works and the numbers to prove it. As the team grows, the role grows with it. You'll work remotely, but regular travel to events and client meetings will be required, so ideally you'll be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town and happy to travel as needed.

Interview process

The interview process has three stages, including a practical task, with the aim of completing everything within four weeks.

  1. Initial screening call with Joanna Byerley, Fractional Talent Partner
  2. Conversation with the Country Manager (South Africa)
  3. Practical task, presented over video

We'll take you through the full process, and the company name, on our first call.

When you apply, please include a brief example of the qualified opportunities, pipeline or revenue your marketing has generated, ideally with some numbers. This will form part of our initial shortlisting.

If this sounds like the kind of opportunity you're looking for, we'd be pleased to hear from you.

Due to the high volume of applications we expect to receive, we may only be able to contact shortlisted candidates. Thank you for your interest and understanding.
