Summary
Urgent 6+ month inside-IR35 contract for a back-end Java developer at a Tier-1 bank in Manchester (hybrid, 2 office days/week). Day to day: building Java 8-17 microservices with Spring Boot and REST, Kafka event-driven messaging, GCP deployment and monitoring, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Spencer Rose are urgently seeking a Java Developer for a 6+ month contract working for a Tier-1 bank in Manchester, experience working with Google Cloud (GCP) is a must.
Start: URGENT
Location: Manchester - hybrid, 2 days a week in the office
Rate: £420pd Inside IR35

- Java (8/11/17+) with strong hands-on experience in enterprise application development.
- Microservices Architecture using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and distributed system design.
- Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture, messaging, and asynchronous processing.
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including deployment, monitoring, and cloud-native services.
- Containerisation & Orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- CI/CD & DevOps using Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, and automated deployment pipelines.
- Database & Engineering Practices including SQL/NoSQL databases, automated testing, and Agile delivery.
- Stakeholder engagement and management
- Good communication skills
