Summary
Contract backend developer role (via recruiter Recruitment Hive) building secure, scalable backend services and consumer APIs with Golang and GraphQL, deployed to Kubernetes/AWS EKS, for a Commonwealth Government disability-support organisation in Brisbane. Baseline security clearance required; hybrid with 2 days WFH; $130-150/hr inc. super.

Our client, a Commonwealth Government organisation whose focus is to provide support to Australian's living with disability, require the services of a Backend API Developer (EL1 equivalent).
Key responsibilities of the Backend API Developer:
- Design, develop, test and maintain secure, scalable backend services and consumer APIs using modern framework such as Golang and GraphQL;
- Develop and support cloud-native applications deployed to Kubernetes and AWS EKS environments;
- Collaborate closely with frontend development teams, Salesforce developers, MuleSoft integration teams and solution architects to deliver integrated digital solutions;
- Design and implement authentication, authorisation and secure integration patterns that enable web, portal and mobile applications to access enterprise services.
Skills required:
- Strong technical knowledge of API design and integration patterns, including GraphQL, authentication and authorisation, API lifecycle management and service-to-service communication;
- Demonstrated experience using source control, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to build, validate and deploy backend services, and working across application, integration and architecture teams to deliver end-to-end digital solutions;
- Demonstrated experience effectively leveraging contemporary AI-assisted software engineering tools to support software development, testing, debugging, documentation and delivery outcomes while maintaining a strong understanding of underlying engineering principles;
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary delivery teams and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable experience includes knowledge of Cloudflare technologies, consumer-facing API platforms, and working within government or highly regulated environments.
