Terra is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to help build and scale the platform that powers our next generation of AI Products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, designing scalable systems and building reliable infrastructure that enables intelligent, real world solutions. You'll work closely with our Backend Development team to design, build, evolve services, integrations and architecture that support both internal teams and customer-facing products. Must be fluent in English.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain the backend services, APIs, and infrastructure that power Terra's products and AI platform.
- Build reusable integrations with third-party platforms, business systems, and external APIs to create seamless customer solutions.
- Develop scalable workflows and automation that improve both internal operations and customer-facing experiences.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to turn ideas into production-ready features, iterating quickly based on feedback.
- Prototype new solutions rapidly, validate assumptions, and evolve them into reliable, scalable products.
- Extend and integrate existing platforms—including CMSs, automation tools, and other business systems—when they provide the best solution for the problem.
- Use AI development tools to accelerate implementation, automate repetitive work, and improve engineering productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality and system design.
- Design systems that are reliable, secure, maintainable, and easy for other developers to build upon.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, improve platform performance, and continuously identify opportunities to simplify architecture and developer workflows.
- Contribute to engineering best practices through code reviews, documentation, testing, and knowledge sharing.
Who You Are
- You're an experienced software engineer with 3+ years of experience building scalable applications, platforms, or backend services.
- You enjoy solving complex technical problems and turning ambiguous requirements into pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- You've built software that solves real business problems across different customers, industries, or use cases.
- You're comfortable working across different parts of the technology stack, integrating with APIs, third-party platforms, content systems, and business tools to deliver complete solutions.
- You're comfortable working with existing platforms and extending them when needed, whether that's integrating a CMS, connecting third-party services, or building custom solutions on top of existing products.
- You're a versatile engineer who enjoys learning new technologies and domains quickly, and you're comfortable picking up unfamiliar systems when the problem calls for it.
- You think beyond code, understanding how technical decisions impact users, customers, and the business.
- You're comfortable owning projects end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and continuous improvement.
- You know how to leverage AI development tools effectively—breaking down problems, providing clear context, reviewing outputs critically, and guiding AI to produce high-quality solutions rather than expecting it to solve problems on its own.
- You enjoy working in collaborative, cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with engineering, product, and design.
- You're proactive, curious, and always looking for better ways to build, automate, and simplify complex workflows.
- You're passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and building systems that are reliable, scalable, and easy to extend.
- You thrive in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve quickly, experimentation is encouraged, and delivering value matters.
- You're fluent in English.
