The role 🙋
We are now looking for a skilled, driven and experienced Backend Developer to join our team. Working behind the scenes, our backend developers have a significant impact not only on our business success, but also on the success of our partners.
Our department is organised into seven small, fast-moving Scrum teams, each with a clear focus and high degree of ownership. We are currently looking for someone to join our Platform & Security team, where you will help build and maintain the foundations that keep our platform secure, scalable and reliable.
What you will do 🙌
Take ownership of day-to-day development within a fast-moving Scrum team.
Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and reliable backend services and platform capabilities.
Improve and evolve our core infrastructure, with a focus on performance, stability and security.
Collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, QA and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the long-term direction of our platform.
Build and maintain foundational capabilities that enable other Scrum teams to develop and deliver new features to our users.
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply them where they add real value.
Who you are 🧑
You have a strong understanding of software development principles and design patterns
At least 3 years of experience in Java or similar backend languages
Academic background in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
Good knowledge of relational databases and data modelling
Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative workflows
Good understanding of backend systems, APIs and scalable service architectures
Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code or similar) to improve productivity
Hands-on and proactive, with the ability to take on complex challenges
Curious, with a drive to learn and grow
Able to work independently as well as in a team
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills
Bonus: If you have worked with some of below technologies Grails, MariaDB/ MySQL, Docker/ Kubernetes, GitLab, Python, Javascript Angular/ Typescript, Jira, Kafka and/or Ubuntu.
