Backend Developer

Requirements:

• Experience with JavaScript (Node.js ) in a production environment and comfort with working in this environment primarily.
• Our current stack is mostly Node.js / PostgreSQL / Redis and Python, so you'll have to be comfortable operating there, despite your previous experience.
• Experience with performance engineering. For example, profiling slow API paths with APM tools, articulating debugging strategies, designing experiments to reduce uncertainty in decision paths, and understanding complex database query plans.
• Experience with Linux/BSD production operating environments and tools like basic bash scripting, performance monitoring like htop, iotop, and perf; and debugging tools are required.
• Linux/BSD resource constraints like CPU, memory, I/O, and file handles.
• Experience with SQL databases, preferably with PostgreSQL.
• Have you done something exceptional in your personal or professional life on your own initiative, for example?
• Started a school to teach how to mountain climb or race bikes.
• Rescued abandoned/injured dogs/cats and found homes for them.
• Started your own company, doing anything from delivering milk to developing software.
• Learned to play chess or go at a high level.
• Anything else you'd like to share that demonstrates how you stand out.
• Some knowledge of data science and statistics.
• Familiarity with big data tools.
• Deep experience with the internals of databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
