Backend Developer

Summary

Backend developer builds and maintains scalable Node.js/TypeScript APIs with PostgreSQL/Prisma, collaborates cross-functionally, and ensures code quality through testing and CI/CD pipelines.

Role Purpose

As a Software Engineer, you will deliver well-tested backend features independently within an established architecture while contributing to frontend development when features require end-to-end implementation. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend developers, and fellow engineers to design, build, and deploy reliable software solutions that create business value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and enhance backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, Prisma, and PostgreSQL.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs with robust validation, error handling, authentication, and logging.
  • Contribute to frontend development using React and TypeScript when required.
  • Write automated tests and ensure code quality through testing and peer code reviews.
  • Follow established development and deployment processes, including Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver end-to-end features.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, performance improvements, and continuous enhancement of applications.
  • Maintain coding standards, documentation, and best practices across the development lifecycle.


Requirements

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience, primarily with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Strong experience working with PostgreSQL and ORM frameworks such as Prisma.
  • Solid understanding of REST API design principles and common authentication mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of React and willingness to contribute across the full technology stack.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.
  • Familiarity with containerized application deployment and modern CI/CD processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver features independently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Azure, or cloud-native environments.
  • Exposure to GitOps deployment methodologies and CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest or Vitest.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management solutions such as Entra ID and OIDC.
  • Experience working in agile product development environments.
