Backend Developer - Java

We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, databases, and microservices. You will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, QA, and other technical stakeholders to deliver reliable backend solutions from development and testing through production deployment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build, integrate, document, and optimize RESTful APIs and backend integrations.
• Design and implement scalable services using microservices architecture where appropriate.
• Develop efficient data-access layers and write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, indexing, and query performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, secure, and testable production code.
• Apply appropriate error handling, logging, validation, and security practices.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, defects, and production issues.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Use Git and follow branching, version-control, and collaborative development practices.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, and production environments.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver features.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Take ownership of backend features throughout the development lifecycle, from design to deployment.

The core requirements for the job include the following:

Core Java and Backend Development:

• 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture and service-to-service communication.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, exception handling, and core software engineering principles.

Databases:

• Good understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience writing efficient queries and working with database schemas, indexes, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is beneficial.

Testing and Code Quality:

• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, peer code reviews, and engineering best practices.

Cloud, DevOps, and Tools:

• Experience with Git and modern source-control workflows.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and build/deployment processes.
• Familiarity with AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
• Experience supporting applications in staging and production environments.

Collaboration and Work Style:

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with frontend engineers, QA, product teams, and other stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment and taking ownership of deliverables.

Good to Have:

• Experience with AI-powered services, search technologies, or data pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and application performance tuning.

Key Technology Stack:
