Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin)

Builds and maintains high-performance trading backend services in Java/Kotlin, containerized with Kubernetes/Docker, using MongoDB and Databricks in a modernized fintech system.
I’m currently working with a large fintech firm with a global presence that’s embarking on a major modernisation project—rebuilding their legacy trading system from the ground up. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, focused team delivering a modern, high-performance trading application using cutting-edge tech in a fast-paced front-office environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing scalable backend services in Java and/or Kotlin
- Building and deploying containerised apps with Kubernetes & Docker
- Working with MongoDB and Databricks for data processing and analytics
- Collaborating on system design and integration with relational databases
- Engaging directly with stakeholders and tech leads in a fast-moving project
Required Experience
- 2+ years backend development in Java and/or Kotlin within financial systems
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker & MongoDB
- Hands-on with Databricks and exposure to relational DBs
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, unit testing, and debugging
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
