Backend Developer
Role & responsibilities
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of secure, production-grade services and APIs. You will work across our TypeScript/Node.js serverless and containerized stack, Typescript, NodeJS, AWS infrastructure, event-driven systems, and relational/NoSQL databases to deliver reliable, scalable services.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services and APIs using TypeScript (Node.js), with strong input validation and structured logging.
- Build serverless, event-driven architectures on AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, Step Functions).
- Implement robust data models, migrations, and queries with Prisma and relational databases (Aurora PostgreSQL, Oracle where applicable).
- Design and optimize NoSQL solutions (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB) for performance and scale.
- Implement and maintain fine-grained authorization models (relationship-based access control).
- Develop containerized services (Docker) and deploy/operate on Kubernetes (EKS).
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines for automated, repeatable delivery.
- Apply observability practices: structured logging, tracing, and metrics.
- Follow secure-coding practices for input validation, secrets management, IAM, and data protection.
- Participate in code and architecture reviews and help uphold platform standards.
Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Node.js); comfortable across one or more additional backend languages as needed.
- Proven experience building microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, IAM, EventBridge/SNS/SQS, Step Functions).
- Expertise with relational databases (Aurora PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL stores (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB).
- Practical experience with Prisma (or a comparable ORM) and managing schema and database migrations.
- CI/CD and automated testing experience (unit/integration; Jest or similar).
- Containerization with Docker and orchestration on Kubernetes (EKS).
- Solid grasp of query optimization and read/write performance trade-offs.
General Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving technologies.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-have)
- Experience with serverless frameworks (SST, Serverless Framework) and infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK / Terraform).
- Familiarity with fine-grained authorization systems.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Grafana).
- Background in security practices for cloud-native apps and secrets management.
- Experience with high-availability database patterns, migration tooling, and cost-aware architecture.
- Exposure to identity access-management domains.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of backend development experience.
