About the Role

The company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale the backend systems that support real-time monitoring across data center infrastructure worldwide. This is a full-time, remote position on a small, highly technical team, with significant responsibility for architecture, infrastructure, and product development.

The role focuses on distributed systems, Go, AWS cloud infrastructure, and highly reliable backend platforms. It goes beyond conventional SaaS application development, requiring strong systems thinking and an understanding of how software operates in mission-critical environments. You’ll work on real-time data ingestion, edge device orchestration, multi-region infrastructure, and cloud analytics while helping prepare the platform for broader enterprise adoption and international deployments.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and scale distributed backend systems using Go (Golang).

•Develop systems for real-time sensor data and event ingestion.

•Scale and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS.

•Design and support multi-region, multi-AZ, and high-availability architectures.

•Develop and maintain public and internal APIs.

•Support edge device orchestration and the movement of device data between edge systems and cloud platforms.

•Improve backend reliability, observability, and performance.

•Build and maintain data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.

•Support the development of infrastructure for future machine learning and predictive analytics capabilities.

•Contribute to enterprise readiness initiatives and infrastructure scaling for international deployments.

•Help solve complex backend and infrastructure challenges as the platform grows.

•Take ownership of technical decisions and deliver reliable production systems in an early-stage environment.

Required Qualifications

•6–10+ years of backend engineering experience.

•Production experience developing software with Go/Golang.

•Experience building and scaling distributed systems.

•Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure.

•Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment.

•Experience designing and developing APIs.

•Experience with SQL and/or PostgreSQL.

•Previous startup experience.

•Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and operate without extensive mentorship.

•Comfort working in ambiguous environments that require rapid iteration and a high degree of ownership.

•Experience building production systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and infrastructure performance.

•Background in infrastructure or platform engineering.

•Experience with edge computing or device management.

•Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.

•Experience with Redis or caching systems.

•Experience with reliability engineering and observability systems.

•Experience with IoT or other real-world systems.

•Experience with event-driven architectures or real-time systems.

•Experience designing multi-region or high-availability systems.
