Backend Engineer - Java/Python

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop, and scale secure, cloud-native backend systems. The role involves building high-performance APIs and microservices, contributing to architecture decisions, and driving engineering excellence in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices.

- Build secure, reliable, and high-performance applications using one or more of C#, C++, Go, Java, or Python.

- Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD tools.

- Implement security best practices across authentication, authorisation, API security, encryption, and access management.

- Contribute to system architecture, technical design, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

- Work with fintech and payments infrastructure, with an understanding of blockchain, RPCs, and self-custody wallets.

- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimise application performance, and ensure system reliability.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements :

- 8 - 12 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in fintech or payments infrastructure.

- Strong backend development experience in one or more of C#, C++, Go, Java, or Python.

- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.

- Proficiency in cloud-native development, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD tools.

- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.

- Good knowledge of security concepts, including authentication, authorisation, SAML, API security, and encryption.

- Understanding of blockchain concepts, RPCs, and self-custody wallets.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.

- Prior experience leading engineering initiatives in a high-growth startup is an advantage.
