Backend Engineer
Summary
Backend Engineer at Mindbox (consulting/outsource) working on a client's next-generation payment processing platform, building the Future State Architecture payment engine. Day to day: Java/Spring Boot microservices, Kafka, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud and observability tooling. Hybrid role based in Kraków (2 days/week in office).

- 8+ years of applied experience as an API engineer with solid understanding of architectural design (gap analysis, data models, etc.).
- Strong engineering background in back-end microservices development, application security, authentication, caching, and middleware.
- Advanced programming skills in Java (Go and Rust are a plus). Familiarity with Spring Boot and distributed systems design.
- Knowledge of Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and experience with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger).
- Expertise in cloud environments, networking, identity and access management, and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience working in financial institutions, preferably in payment systems.
- Strong leadership abilities to mentor and inspire the team, coupled with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
