Backend Engineer (Node.js / NestJS)
Summary
Remote-first backend engineer building fintech products — neobanks, PCI DSS-compliant payment platforms, and banking integrations. Day to day: designing APIs for mobile/web clients, integrating payment providers and banking systems, and owning services end to end with Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and PostgreSQL on a team of under 20.
Compensation: $40k – $60k • No equity
We hire backend engineers continuously and would rather meet strong people before a project needs them. There may not be an opening the week you apply — we'll tell you honestly where we stand and get in touch when there's a match.
About the work We build fintech products: neobanks, PCI DSS-compliant payment platforms, banking integrations and SaaS tools. Backend is the centre of most of them — money moves through the code you write, so correctness matters more than speed.
What you'd do
- Design and build APIs for mobile and web clients
- Integrate payment providers and banking systems, handle webhooks and reconciliation
- Own services end to end: schema, business logic, tests, deployment
- Take part in architecture decisions and give the estimates we commit to
What we look for
- 4+ years with Node.js and TypeScript, ideally NestJS
- Solid relational database skills — PostgreSQL, query design, migrations
- Experience with third-party integrations; payment or banking is a strong plus
- Comfort working async in a small team without layers of process
How we work Remote only, Europe, CET/EET overlap. Weekly demos, clear deadlines, written communication by default. Under twenty people, so you'll see the whole product rather than a slice of it.
Hiring process Intro call → technical conversation about your actual experience, no whiteboard algorithms → decision. We reply to every application.
