Summary
Builds and maintains backend APIs and the PostgreSQL schema for a multi-tenant management platform serving residential elderly care homes in Hong Kong (resident, care and medication records, care plans, finances), including legacy data migration, integrations and production operations. Requires 2+ years with Node.js/TypeScript; on-site in Tsuen Wan District.
Salary: $25,000 – $35,000 per month
About the role
We build a multi-tenant management system for residential care homes for the elderly in Hong Kong, covering resident records, care records, medication management, individual care plans and home finances. You will design, build and maintain backend APIs and the PostgreSQL database schema for frontline care home staff.
Key responsibilities
Design, build and maintain backend APIs and the PostgreSQL database schema
Write database migrations and keep data correct and secure across care homes
Migrate data from legacy systems into the new platform
Build and maintain integrations with external platforms, report generation and printing
Deploy, monitor and troubleshoot services in production, and take part in user acceptance testing
About you
2+ years of backend development with Node.js and TypeScript
Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema design, migrations, transactions and query tuning
Experience designing APIs
Familiar with Git, Docker and basic Linux administration
Good written and spoken Chinese, and able to understand how care homes work
Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools
Experience with NestJS, tRPC or Prisma (preferred)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) (preferred)
Experience with multi-tenant systems or PostgreSQL row-level security (preferred)
Experience migrating data from legacy databases (e.g. MySQL) (preferred)
