Backend Engineer

BACKEND ENGINEER PYTHON & AZURE INTEGRATIONS

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and enterprise integrations. The candidate will be responsible for building robust APIs, integrating business applications such as Salesforce and Microsoft 365, and developing secure, event-driven backend workflows using Python and Azure services.

The role requires strong backend engineering fundamentals, experience with cloud-based application development, API integrations, authentication mechanisms and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Build and manage REST APIs for integrating enterprise applications and business systems.
• Develop integrations with Salesforce, SharePoint, Outlook and Microsoft Teams using REST APIs and Microsoft Graph API.
• Implement asynchronous processing, background jobs and event-driven workflows.
• Work with Azure services including Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, App Service, API Management and Service Bus/Event Grid.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0 and managed identities.
• Design and manage application state, data persistence and long-running workflows using Cosmos DB.
• Implement error handling, retries, idempotency, timeouts and fault-tolerant mechanisms.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues and maintain structured logging and audit trails.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable backend solutions.

Experience & Working Style

• 5–8 years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development.
• Experience building and deploying REST APIs and enterprise application integrations.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services.
• Experience integrating Salesforce and/or Microsoft 365 applications in an enterprise environment.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorization and secure API communication.
• Ability to troubleshoot and independently handle production issues.

Additional Note

Frontend development, ML model training, data science and AI/LLM experience are not required for this position.
