Backend Engineer (Python/Django) - Fortune Tower

We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer with strong experience in Python, Django, and Django REST Framework to design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs for data-driven applications and dashboards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for backend architecture, database design, business logic implementation, API performance optimization, and data processing to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient application performance. Experience with energy data, manufacturing systems, IoT platforms, or production data is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.

• Design and implement service layers, business logic, and backend workflows to support dashboard applications and data-driven business requirements.

• Design, develop, and optimize data models, database schemas, and relationships to ensure data integrity and efficient data access.

• Work extensively with Django ORM and SQL to develop queries, retrieve data, and manage database operations.

• Develop backend logic for dashboard applications, including data aggregation, KPI calculations, reporting, and data processing.

• Optimize application performance through query optimization, caching strategies, API response optimization, and efficient resource utilization.

• Develop basic alerting and notification logic based on defined thresholds, business rules, or operational conditions.

• Integrate backend services with databases, external systems, and data platforms to ensure reliable data exchange.

• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve system reliability and maintainability.

• Collaborate with Frontend Engineers, Data Engineers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end application functionality.

• Maintain clean, reusable, well-documented, and maintainable code following software development best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in backend development, preferably with Python and Django. Candidates with equivalent hands-on expertise may also be considered.

• Strong proficiency in Python and practical experience developing applications using Django and Django REST Framework.

• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, API integration, service-layer architecture, and backend application development.

• Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, Django ORM, database schema design, and data modeling.

• Ability to design and implement backend business logic to support dashboards, reporting, data aggregation, and operational data processing.

• Understanding of application performance optimization, including SQL query tuning, caching, and API response optimization.

• Experience implementing business rules, threshold-based logic, or basic alerting mechanisms.

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently on assigned technical requirements.

• Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with energy data, energy management systems, manufacturing systems, IoT platforms, utilities, or production data.

• Familiarity with Snowflake or cloud-based data platforms and data integration.

• Experience developing dashboards or backend services that support operational monitoring and KPI reporting.

• Familiarity with automated testing, version control systems such as Git, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.

• Understanding of scalable backend architecture, security best practices, and reliable data processing.
