Builds Python backend services and RESTful APIs with AI features: LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering and AI agent workflows, backed by vector/relational/NoSQL databases and deployed via cloud, containers and CI/CD. Hybrid role based in Sheffield with 3 days a week in the office.
We are hiring: Backend Engineer - Python & Generative AI
Location: Sheffield- Hybrid- Weekly 3 days in-office.
- Strong commercial experience developing Python backend applications, RESTful APIs and scalable distributed systems, using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
- Hands-on experience building Generative AI solutions, including LLM integrations, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering and AI agent workflows.
- Good understanding of embeddings, vector databases, relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling and API integrations.
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure software development practices.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with experience in production support, monitoring, debugging and AI evaluation. Frontend experience with React and TypeScript is desirable.
