Revwit is hiring a backend engineer to help build its B2B sales assistant SaaS for African teams. Day to day you design Laravel/PHP RESTful APIs, manage and tune databases, own backend features from idea to deployment, and collaborate with product and frontend in a small remote startup.
About the Role
We’re building a modern Sales Assistant for B2B teams in Africa—and we need a backend engineer who can do more than just write code. We need someone who cares about building great systems, ships fast, and treats product quality like a personal mission.
You’ll be one of the core builders of our backend, designing APIs, managing databases, improving performance, and contributing to architecture decisions. This is not a ticket-taking role. It’s a high-impact position where your decisions shape the product.
What You’ll Do
Design and build backend systems using PHP (Laravel).
Create and maintain RESTful APIs that power our frontend and integrations.
Manage databases and write efficient queries that scale with usage.
Work closely with product, design, and frontend teams to turn ideas into working features.
Review code, share knowledge, and help the team improve engineering standards.
Monitor performance, debug issues, and implement improvements continuously.
Things will break. You take ownership, fix fast, and learn faster.
Take full ownership of backend features from idea to deployment.
Who You Are
Experienced – You’ve built backend systems in production, ideally in a startup or SaaS environment.
Skilled in Laravel – You’re comfortable with modern PHP and can build solid systems in Laravel.
Pragmatic – You know when to move fast and when to slow down for quality and stability.
Autonomous – You don’t wait to be told what to do. You take ownership and push things forward.
Collaborative – You work well with others, communicate clearly, and put the team before ego.
Well-Rounded – You’re familiar with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps basics, and integrating third-party APIs.
Curious – You like to learn, experiment, and improve continuously.
