Backend Engineer

As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with our engineering and AI teams to build and maintain scalable backend systems powering AI-driven applications. You will get hands-on exposure to Python, Java, Frappe, APIs, databases, cloud services, and Large Language Models (LLMs) while working on real-world backend and applied AI use cases. This role is ideal for candidates with strong programming fundamentals who are eager to build expertise in backend engineering and AI applications in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services and REST APIs.
• Build scalable and efficient server-side applications using Python and Java.
• Develop and maintain applications using the Frappe Framework.
• Build backend modules, APIs, and integrations using Frappe.
• Integrate backend systems with LLMs, AI platforms, and third-party services.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data pipelines.
• Work with PostgreSQL/MySQL and other backend data stores.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, AI engineers, and product teams.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend performance and integration issues.
• Participate in code reviews and follow software engineering best practices.
• Contribute to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of production systems.
• Stay updated with emerging AI, backend, Frappe, and cloud technologies.

Requirements:

• We are looking for a 0-1 year Backend Developer with strong programming fundamentals and hands-on Frappe Framework experience.
• The candidate should be comfortable with Python, APIs, SQL, Git, and basic backend development and should have an interest in building AI/LLM-powered applications.
• Frappe is a mandatory skill for this role. Candidates without hands-on Frappe experience will not be considered.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
• 0-1 year of professional experience, internships, academic projects, or personal projects in backend development.
• Frappe experience is mandatory, including through an internship, project, or hands-on development work.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced startup environment.

Backend Development:

• Good understanding of Python programming.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Java.
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend application development.
• Hands-on experience with the Frappe Framework is mandatory.
• Understanding of Frappe/ERPNext architecture, DocTypes, server-side scripting, and API development.
• Familiarity with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Knowledge of Git and version-control workflows.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Basic understanding of Linux and command-line tools.

AI / LLM Exposure:

• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, or open-source models.
• Understanding of basic prompt engineering concepts.
• Exposure to LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI frameworks is a plus.
• Interest in RAG, AI agents, and generative AI applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building projects using Python, Java, and Frappe.
• Experience with Frappe Framework / ERPNext projects.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications.
• Understanding of microservices architecture.
• Exposure to AI/LLM-based applications.
• Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
