You will build and maintain TypeScript and Node.js backend services, REST APIs, and core product features. You will design PostgreSQL data models, integrate billing and external services, build safe background jobs, write tests, diagnose production issues, and collaborate on production releases.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js
- Implement authentication, permissions, organizations, projects, and API-key management
- Define API contracts with frontend engineers and handle errors and edge cases
- Deliver features through implementation, testing, release, and follow-up improvements
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, write migrations, and improve queries
- Integrate usage reporting, billing, and external services
- Build background jobs and safely handle retries, duplicate events, and failed requests
- Write automated tests for important workflows and failure cases
- Diagnose issues using logs and metrics and fix root causes
- Document key decisions and contribute to code reviews
- Connect product services with model-serving systems
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL schema design, indexes, and transactions
- Understanding of asynchronous programming, error handling, and external API integrations
- Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure handling of user data and credentials
- Ability to write automated tests and troubleshoot production issues
- Clear communication and ability to turn product requirements into backend features
- Go experience
- Experience with Redis, message queues, or background workers
- Familiarity with payments, usage-based billing, or webhook integrations
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD workflows
- Experience building SaaS products or developer-facing APIs
- Familiarity with AI APIs, streaming responses, or long-running requests
