Backend Engineer

Role Summary

This is a senior backend-focused role where you will take ownership of backend systems end-to-end. You will collaborate closely with leadership to design, build, and scale backend infrastructure while maintaining production-grade systems used by institutional clients.

Backend Engineer (2 Positions)

Compensation: Good Compensation + up to 30% bonus + stock options

Location: United States (East Coast preferred), Hybrid

Note: The organization is hiring 2 Backend Engineers simultaneously.

The platform focuses on automating asset-backed financing operations by digitizing credit agreements, integrating real-time data, and leveraging blockchain-based smart contracts to streamline capital and asset flows.

The solution is already being used by leading fintechs across BNPL, trade finance, real estate, and consumer lending, significantly reducing operational costs and improving capital efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and scale backend systems
• Collaborate with leadership on technical roadmap execution
• Own backend systems end-to-end (design → deployment → maintenance)
• Implement best practices for scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Explore and introduce modern tools, frameworks, and methodologies

Required Profile

• 5+ years of backend software development experience
• Strong expertise in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, APIs, backend services)
• Experience designing scalable data models
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases with performance optimization

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS services
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably AWS CDK
• Exposure to blockchain or smart contract-based systems

Team Context

• Reports directly to CTO
• Part of a small, high-impact backend team with experienced engineers
• Works closely with product, data, and leadership teams
• Lean team structure (~13 members) with strong founder involvement
• Hybrid setup with a mix of remote and in-office collaboration

Target Profile

• Engineers from fintech, financial infrastructure, or lending platforms
• Experience working on scalable production systems
• Background in backend-heavy roles (not frontend/full stack focused)

Ideal Candidate

A 5-7 year Python backend engineer with experience in financial systems or infrastructure, who has built and scaled backend systems in production and is looking for early-stage impact and ownership.
