This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity focused on building and scaling the backend foundations of a critical cybersecurity platform. You will lead a team responsible for microservices, data-processing pipelines, APIs, and distributed platform capabilities. The role combines hands-on technical depth with people leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. You will help shape backend architecture while ensuring reliability, scalability, and strong production support. Accountabilities
- Lead the backend engineering team and promote a strong, healthy technical community, with a focus on engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor engineers and support their technical development, career progression, and long-term growth through regular coaching and guidance.
- Own and champion the technical vision and execution of backend platform capabilities, including streaming data ingestion, detection processing, baseline learning, asset reconciliation, core APIs, and platform coordination.
- Guide the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing evolution of production-grade backend systems built around microservice architectures.
- Partner closely with technical leads and Product Managers to translate product objectives into scalable and reliable engineering solutions.
- Provide technical leadership throughout software development and release processes, helping teams make sound architectural and implementation decisions.
- Foster strong relationships across engineering leadership and encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration between technical teams.
- Ensure backend systems receive effective support in production, stepping in when needed to assist with development, incident triage, troubleshooting, and complex technical issues.
- Contribute to the continued evolution of platform architecture, engineering practices, and technical strategy.
- 7+ years of experience building and leading technical engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to develop high-performing teams and mentor engineers.
- 5+ years of experience developing software or leading teams working with microservice architectures and distributed backend systems.
- Strong hands-on software engineering background with deep fundamentals in backend architecture, distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and production-grade development.
- Strong proficiency in systems-level or backend programming; experience with Rust is strongly preferred, along with the ability and willingness to adopt modern languages and architectures.
- Experience leading engineering work within agile, cross-functional environments and collaborating effectively with product and technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Apache Flink, RabbitMQ, or HashiCorp Vault is an advantage.
- Ability to remain technically engaged and contribute directly when necessary, including occasional development, troubleshooting, incident response, or technical triage.
- Experience in cybersecurity, operational technology (OT), or industrial control systems (ICS) environments is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills, combined with sound technical and business judgment.
- Ability to balance strategic engineering leadership with sufficient technical depth to influence architecture and solve complex problems.
