About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing enterprise backend systems using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
Beyond application development, you will contribute to system modernisation, internal platform development, integration services, and automation initiatives that improve business operations across the organisation.
As part of our engineering culture, we actively leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, software quality, and delivery speed.

Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
- Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services.
- Build internal platforms, middleware services, ETL pipelines, and system integration solutions.
- Participate in application refactoring and legacy system modernisation initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and integration issues.
- Optimise application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
AI-Assisted Engineering
- Utilise AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve engineering productivity.
- Apply AI for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and automation.
- Review AI-generated code to ensure quality, security, and maintainability.
- Explore new AI-driven engineering practices to continuously improve development workflows.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of backend software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
Experience in any of the following will be an advantage:
- Python
- Docker and Kubernetes
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch
- Observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)
- System integration, middleware, or ETL development
- AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot
