Backend Software Engineer

Compensation: 30.0% – 30.0%

## What You'll Do * Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services * Build and integrate REST APIs and third-party services * Design and work with relational and/or NoSQL databases * Develop scalable, maintainable, and well-structured backend code * Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability * Work with cloud infrastructure and containerized applications * Collaborate with frontend developers, engineers, and other technical team members * Participate in technical discussions, project planning, and client communication * Clearly explain technical decisions, issues, and progress in English ## Technical Skills We are primarily interested in strong backend engineering fundamentals. Experience with some of the following is preferred: * **Backend:** Python, Node.js / TypeScript, Java, Go, C# or similar * **Frameworks:** FastAPI, Django, Flask, NestJS, Express, Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core or equivalent * **Databases:** PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis * **APIs:** REST, Webhooks, third-party integrations, authentication and authorization * **Cloud:** AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud * **DevOps:** Docker, CI/CD, Linux, Git * **Architecture:** Microservices, distributed systems, background jobs, queues, caching * Experience with AI/LLM integrations, automation, data pipelines, or cloud infrastructure is a plus ## Communication Requirements **Professional English speaking and communication skills are required.** You should be comfortable: * Speaking directly with international clients and team members * Participating in technical meetings and interviews * Explaining technical concepts clearly * Asking questions and clarifying requirements * Providing concise progress updates * Communicating professionally through video calls, voice calls, chat, and email Strong technical skills are important, but this role requires someone who can also **represent TerraSpanWorks professionally in client-facing conversations.** ## What We're Looking For * Professional backend software development experience * Strong understanding of APIs, databases, and backend architecture * Comfortable working in a remote, distributed environment * Reliable communication and ownership of assigned work * Ability to adapt to different technologies and project requirements * Strong professional spoken and written English ## Nice to Have * Full-stack development experience * AI / LLM application development * Workflow automation * DevOps or cloud infrastructure experience * Data engineering experience * Experience working directly with U.S. or international clients * Experience in consulting, agency, or project-based environments
