Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend & Systems Integration Engineer (ERPNext) with at least 5 years of software development experience and 3 years of hands‑on ERPNext development experience to help develop, enhance, and integrate our internal ERP platform. This is not a traditional ERP support role. You will be expected to design, build, and improve business-critical systems, develop ERPNext features and integrations, and work alongside our engineering team to deliver scalable software solutions that drive operational excellence across the business.

As a Backend & Systems Integration Engineer (ERPNext), you will design, develop, and maintain backend applications, ERPNext customizations, APIs, integrations, and automation that support our internal ERP ecosystem and other business-critical systems. You will work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Production, Customer Service, Nutrition, and Technology to understand business processes and translate them into reliable, scalable software solutions. This is a senior engineering role requiring strong backend engineering expertise, hands‑on ERPNext development experience, and a passion for solving real business problems through technology.

Key Responsibilities

ERPNext Development

• Develop, customize, and maintain ERPNext modules and business workflows.
• Customize DocTypes, Workflows, Reports, Print Formats, Server Scripts, and Client Scripts.
• Extend ERPNext functionality using the Frappe Framework.
• Develop custom applications and modules where required.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain ERPNext performance.
• Support ERPNext upgrades, migrations, and ongoing enhancements.

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
• Develop secure, high-performance REST APIs.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested, and well‑documented code.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Systems Integration

• Build and maintain integrations between ERPNext and internal or third‑party systems.
• Develop integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and secure authentication methods.
• Build automation that reduces manual work across departments.
• Develop scheduled jobs, background workers, and event‑driven services.
• Integrate external platforms such as logistics, communication, reporting, payment gateways, and other business systems.
• Monitor and maintain integration reliability.

Database & Data Management

• Design and optimize relational databases.
• Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance.
• Support data migration, synchronization, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain high standards of data integrity, security, and reliability.

Engineering Excellence

• Produce clear technical documentation.
• Follow secure coding and software engineering best practices.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical planning.
• Support deployments and production releases.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, automation, and system reliability.

AI-Assisted Development

• At FITT Meals, AI is an integral part of our software development workflow. We expect engineers to use AI responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining high engineering standards and engineering judgment. You will be expected to: Use AI to accelerate software development while maintaining code quality, security, and maintainability.
• Leverage AI for debugging, documentation, testing, refactoring, architecture discussions, and technical research.
• Critically review, validate, and test AI-generated code before deployment.
• Identify opportunities to automate engineering and business workflows using AI.
• Continuously learn and adopt new AI capabilities that improve software delivery.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on ERPNext development and customization experience.
• Strong experience with the Frappe Framework.
• Experience developing and customizing ERPNext modules, DocTypes, Workflows, Reports, Print Formats, Server Scripts, and Client Scripts.
• Strong Python backend development experience.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and integrating third‑party systems.
• Strong SQL skills with MySQL or MariaDB.
• Experience using Git in collaborative development environments.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts (OAuth2, JWT, etc.).
• Experience developing scheduled jobs, background services, background workers, or asynchronous processing.Experience working with Linux-based server environments and deploying ERPNext applications is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
