Backend Tech Lead

You will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of backend solutions for customized projects. You will define technology stacks and development architecture, guide the delivery process, and contribute to architecture decisions. You will set team goals, estimate work, facilitate stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, and improve QA, testing, and delivery processes. You will recruit, onboard, coach, and mentor engineers; maintain competency maps and development plans; and foster collective ownership. You will also research gaming-payment products and collaborate with technical, product, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of backend solutions for China-specific customized projects.
• Define technology stacks and development architecture for the team.
• Participate in department-level architecture discussions.
• Set team goals, plan development processes, and estimate implementation tasks.
• Facilitate stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Establish and improve QA processes and participate in testing and delivery.
• Build the technical team through recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
• Coach team members, share knowledge, and foster mentorship.
• Maintain competency maps and plan individual development tracks.
• Build a culture of collective responsibility, trust, innovation, and mutual support.
• Research gaming-payment products and support their localization and promotion in China.
• Collaborate with technical, product, and business partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• At least 1 year in a tech lead, team lead, or core architect role.
• Proficiency in Golang or PHP and their mainstream frameworks.
• Knowledge of data structures and design patterns.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of message queues, Elasticsearch, Redis, and MySQL.
• English proficiency at B2+ level.
• Experience with Agile or Kanban environments.
• Knowledge of SAFe.
• Knowledge of React or full-stack development.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing using Playwright or Cypress.
• Knowledge of caching, networking, load balancers, CDNs, Redis, or MongoDB.
