Backup Administrator - Dell EMC Networker

We are looking for a skilled L1.5 Support Engineer to manage and support enterprise backup and recovery environments using Dell EMC NetWorker, Data Domain (Physical & DDVE), and PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM). The role involves incident resolution, backup administration, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of backup infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Backup Operations & Monitoring
Monitor daily backup jobs using EMC NetWorker and PPDM
Ensure backups complete successfully within SLA timelines
Perform backup validation, verification, and periodic restore tests
Handle backup failures and perform root cause analysis (RCA)Incident & Problem Management
Troubleshoot and resolve L2-level incidents related to:Backup failures
Storage issues on Data Domain/DDVE
Network or client connectivity issues affecting backupsEscalate critical issues to L3/vendor support (Dell EMC) when required
Maintain incident logs and provide timely updatesAdministration & Configuration
Manage and administer:EMC NetWorker servers, clients, policies, and groups
Data Domain appliances (DDOS) and DDVE
PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) environmentsConfigure backup policies, schedules, retention policies, and replication
Perform client onboarding/offboardingData Domain Management
Monitor capacity utilization, replication status, and performance
Perform tasks like:Cleaning (garbage collection)
Disk usage analysis
Replication configuration and troubleshootingPPDM Operations
Manage asset discovery, protection policies, and backup workflows
Monitor VM, database, and application backups via PPDM
Troubleshoot PPDM-related issues (policy failures, UI/API errors)Change & Maintenance Activities
Execute planned changes (patching, upgrades, configuration changes)
Support DR drills and audit activities
Maintain system documentation and SOPsRequired Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
Strong experience with:EMC NetWorker (Administration & Troubleshooting)
Dell EMC Data Domain (Physical & DDVE)
PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM)Knowledge of:Backup protocols (NDMP, NFS, CIFS, etc.)
Linux/Unix & basic Windows administration
Networking basics (DNS, ports, firewalls)Soft Skills

25 years of experience in backup/storage support
