Job Description: As a BHS Superintendent, you will lead day-to-day field execution of BHS construction and installation activities within an active airport environment. This role is responsible for directly managing field operations, coordinating installation sequencing and schedules, supervising contractors and trades, resolving field issues, and driving BHS work through testing, commissioning, turnover, and closeout. The successful candidate must have substantial field-based BHS experience and be comfortable working nights in an active construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide direct, day-to-day field supervision of BHS construction, installation, modification, and integration activities.

· Plan, coordinate, and track BHS installation sequencing, short-interval schedules, look-ahead schedules, manpower needs, and daily work activities.

· Supervise and coordinate BHS contractors, subcontractors, installers, vendors, and field crews to maintain safety, quality, production, and schedule requirements.

· Coordinate BHS work with airport operations, general contractors, electrical and mechanical trades, design teams, OEMs/integrators, TSA, and other project stakeholders.

· Identify and resolve field conflicts, installation constraints, access issues, interface conditions, and constructability concerns that may affect BHS progress.

· Perform routine field walks and inspections to verify work is installed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract documents, quality requirements, and applicable TSA/CBP standards.

· Monitor daily progress against the project schedule; identify delays or risks and implement corrective actions to maintain planned milestones.

· Review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, field changes, punch-list items, deficiencies, and change-related work affecting BHS installation.

· Lead or actively support BHS startup, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, integrated systems testing, acceptance, and turnover activities.

· Coordinate work in an active airport environment to minimize impacts to airline, passenger, baggage, and airport operations.

· Participate in daily huddles, field coordination meetings, progress meetings, and commissioning meetings; provide clear status updates to project leadership.

· Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress tracking, installation status, open issues, testing results, and turnover records.

· Support ORAT, training, punch-list completion, final acceptance, and project closeout activities as required.

· Enforce project safety requirements and promote a strong field safety culture throughout all BHS activities.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

· 10+ years of hands-on experience in baggage handling system (BHS) installation and field execution within aviation or airport environments.

· Demonstrated experience serving in a field superintendent, installation superintendent, site superintendent, field manager, or comparable hands-on construction leadership role.

· Proven experience with all three of the following: BHS scheduling/sequencing, BHS installation, and BHS testing/commissioning.

· Strong understanding of BHS installation sequencing, construction phasing, equipment interfaces, field coordination, and airport operational constraints.

· Experience directly coordinating and supervising contractors, subcontractors, installers, and field crews.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contract documents, and installation details.

· Experience identifying field deficiencies and driving corrective action through completion.

· Working knowledge of construction safety, quality control, commissioning, and turnover processes.

· Ability to work night shift on site in Tampa, Florida, with flexibility based on project requirements.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required airport security clearance/badging.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience on large-hub U.S. commercial airport projects.

· Experience working for, or directly alongside, a BHS OEM, integrator, installer, or specialty contractor.

· Working knowledge of TSA Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS).

· Experience with BHS testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, ORAT, FAT, TRR, system acceptance, and turnover.

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent directly relevant field experience may be considered.
