About the Programme
The Wema Bank Bankers-in-Training (Sales) Programme is a specialised entry-level development initiative designed to equip young professionals with the foundational and advanced skills required to build a successful career in sales and relationship management within the banking industry.
The programme focuses on building strong commercial capabilities through structured training, hands-on experience, and career development in customer acquisition, product knowledge, and a comprehensive understanding of Commercial, Corporate, Retail, and SME Banking.
Career Path Progression
Phase 1: Classroom Training (Foundational)
Phase 2: Shadowing & Field Immersion
Phase 3: Full Deployment as a Relationship Manager
Post-Training Responsibilities
Execute data-driven sales strategies to acquire new-to-bank customers and grow deposit and loan portfolios
Conduct localised market research to identify untapped business opportunities
Drive bank profitability by meeting and exceeding monthly sales targets
Provide end-to-end customer support, resolving inquiries and complaints promptly
Collaborate with credit and risk teams to assess loan applicants and ensure regulatory compliance
Maintain accurate records of sales activities and report progress to senior management
Requirements
Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) in any Business or Social Science-related discipline
Minimum of 5 WAEC/NECO credits, including Mathematics and English
Must not be older than 26 years at the time of application
Completed NYSC with a valid discharge certificate
0–2 years' experience in sales or relationship management is an advantage
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and self-motivated attitude
Basic understanding of financial products and services is an added advantage
