We’re looking for a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Barista to join our team and help create a great beverage experience for our customers!
As a Barista, you’ll prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while providing the friendly service APEX is known for. You’ll also have the opportunity to assist with food preparation, operate the cash register, and support your teammates throughout the café.

Position Overview
As a Barista, you’ll be an important part of creating a welcoming and enjoyable café experience.
You’ll prepare a variety of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while interacting directly with customers. You’ll take orders, process transactions, maintain your beverage station, monitor inventory, and help with food preparation and other café responsibilities as needed.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing position where your personality, attention to detail, and ability to stay organized can make a real difference in the customer experience.
What You'll Do
Create Great Beverages
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, espresso drinks, and specialty beverages according to recipes and menu standards
- Prepare beverages quickly and accurately while maintaining quality and presentation
- Follow proper brewing and beverage preparation techniques
- Pay attention to customer preferences and special requests
- Maintain consistent beverage quality throughout the day
- Add appropriate garnishes and finishing touches when needed
- Keep the beverage station stocked and ready for service
Create a Great Customer Experience
- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Answer questions about beverages, food items, and menu offerings
- Provide knowledgeable and helpful recommendations when appropriate
- Prepare orders according to customer requests
- Process transactions accurately and professionally
- Maintain a positive and engaging attitude, even during busy periods
- Build relationships with customers and help create a café they enjoy visiting
Operate Café Equipment Safely
- Safely operate espresso machines, coffee brewers, grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment
- Follow proper operating procedures for all equipment
- Keep equipment clean and properly maintained
- Follow all equipment safety procedures
- Report equipment problems or safety concerns to leadership
- Learn new equipment and beverage preparation techniques as needed
Support Food Service
- Assist with preparing and serving pastries, sandwiches, snacks, and other menu items as needed
- Help stock food and beverage products
- Assist teammates at other café stations during busy periods
- Cross-train on additional café responsibilities
- Jump in and help wherever you’re needed to keep the operation running smoothly
Keep Things Clean & Safe
Food safety and cleanliness are an important part of the APEX experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary beverage station
- Practice “clean as you go” throughout the shift
- Clean and sanitize beverage equipment, counters, utensils, and work surfaces
- Maintain clean and welcoming customer areas
- Follow all food handling and sanitation procedures
- Properly handle, store, label, and date food and beverage products
- Follow applicable health department and food safety requirements
- Report food safety or cleanliness concerns immediately
Manage Stock & Inventory
- Monitor inventory levels throughout the day
- Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, lids, condiments, and other supplies
- Maintain an organized storage area
- Rotate products appropriately
- Monitor product freshness and expiration dates
- Communicate inventory needs to leadership
- Help minimize product waste
Be Part of the Team
- Work closely with the Café Manager and other team members
- Participate in team huddles and daily communication
- Communicate effectively with teammates and leadership
- Help during busy service periods
- Cross-train on other stations and responsibilities
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive team environment
- Be willing to jump in and help wherever needed

- Willing to cross-train on other café stations
- Previous barista, coffee shop, restaurant, café, hospitality, or food service experience is a plus—but we’re willing to train the right person!
- Bilingual is a plus
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position in a busy café and beverage service environment.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull as needed
- Ability to lift and carry food, beverage products, supplies, and equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as preparing beverages, stocking, serving, and cleaning
- Comfortable working around commercial beverage equipment and varying temperatures
- Ability to maintain a steady pace during busy service periods
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
