Barista/Cafe Attendant

We are looking for Baristas to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages.

Hours are generally 2pm-9pm. You must be available to work weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Educating customers on our drink menu
• Making recommendations based on customer preferences
• Greeting customers as they enter
• Giving customers drink menus and answering questions regarding ingredients
• Up-selling special items and taking orders
• Taking orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Preparing beverages following recipes
• Serving beverages and prepared foods such as cookies, pastries and muffins
• Receiving and processing payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keeping work area clean
• Maintaining stock of clean mugs and plates
• Checking to be sure brewing equipment is operating properly and reporting any maintenance needs
• Complying with health and safety regulations

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
