Job Description

Hookies Cookies is looking for a skilled and passionate Barista with hands-on experience in specialty coffee preparation, beverage presentation, and customer service.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of espresso-based beverages, coffee equipment, milk texturing, and beverage consistency. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing high-quality hot and cold beverages while maintaining excellent hygiene, speed of service, and customer satisfaction in a premium café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based coffees, specialty hot and cold beverages, and other menu drinks according to standard recipes.
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment efficiently and safely.
• Perform espresso calibration, grinder adjustments, and basic coffee extraction quality checks.
• Demonstrate proper milk steaming, texturing, and latte art techniques.
• Maintain consistency in beverage taste, temperature, portioning, and presentation.
• Prepare beverage ingredients, syrups, sauces, garnishes, and station mise en place.
• Monitor the freshness, quality, and availability of coffee beans, milk, and beverage ingredients.
• Follow beverage recipes, portion controls, waste reduction practices, and company SOPs.
• Clean and maintain coffee equipment, workstations, and beverage preparation areas.
• Perform daily equipment cleaning and routine preventive maintenance checks.
• Communicate effectively with service and kitchen teams during peak operational hours.
• Assist with inventory monitoring, stock replenishment, and reporting shortages.
• Provide friendly customer service and recommend beverages that complement the company's dessert offerings.

Mandatory Employment Requirements

• Currently residing in Qatar with a valid QID.
• Eligible for immediate employer transfer, with NOC/release documentation where available, or an approved secondment arrangement.
• Available for immediate joining or within a short notice period.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional barista experience in Qatar or another GCC country, preferably in a specialty coffee shop or premium café.
• Strong understanding of espresso extraction, coffee grinding, brewing techniques, and milk texturing.
• Practical knowledge of commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders.
• Good latte art skills and familiarity with specialty coffee standards.
• Experience preparing iced beverages, signature drinks, and customized coffee orders.
• Knowledge of food safety, equipment sanitation, and beverage quality control.
• Good command of spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Excellent time management, attention to detail, and teamwork.
• Ability to maintain beverage quality and efficiency during busy service hours.
• Barista certification or recognized specialty coffee training is an advantage.
