Job Summary
Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant QA/QC Supervisor to support our quality assurance and quality control operations. This role assists in ensuring that asphalt, aggregates, and related materials meet company, customer, and regulatory specifications. The Assistant QA/QC Supervisor will work closely with production, operations, and field personnel to maintain product quality, promote continuous improvement, and support a culture of safety and compliance.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily quality control and quality assurance activities for asphalt plants, aggregate operations, and construction projects.
- Conduct and review testing of asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and raw materials in accordance with applicable specifications and testing procedures.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and processes.
- Monitor plant production and field operations to ensure compliance with customer specifications, state DOT requirements, and company standards.
- Review laboratory test results and identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with calibration, maintenance, and verification of testing equipment and laboratory instruments.
- Prepare and maintain accurate quality control documentation, reports, certifications, and records.
- Communicate quality concerns to plant management, project managers, and operations personnel and assist with corrective actions
- Participate in internal audits, inspections, and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in training laboratory technicians and quality control personnel on testing procedures and best practices.
- Support investigations related to non-conforming products and customer complaints.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both laboratory and outdoor environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work near heavy equipment, production facilities, and active construction sites.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
