Position Description:
Would you like to have a career with a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic mining company? We have an exciting opportunity for you!
Barrick has an opening for a Global Safety Analyst. The successful candidate supports the Health & Safety function by keeping reporting data, SharePoint, Power BI, SSRS, and user support workflows organized, reliable, and responsive. This role helps convert safety data into usable reports, maintains key digital tools, supports access management, and assists with the continuous improvement of safety systems and analytics workflows.
This position is designed for a proactive technical support professional with strong systems capability and enough safety reporting familiarity to understand why data quality, timely reporting, and practical user support matter to the business.
At Barrick, our vision is to be the world’s most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. We are committed to a safe work environment sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.
Responsibilities:
- Compile, format, and distribute weekly and monthly safety reports for internal stakeholders.
- Support consistency and accuracy of safety data across reporting platforms and source systems.
- Assist with routine and ad hoc reporting requests tied to safety performance, trends, and operational needs.
- Design, maintain, and improve SharePoint sites used for safety data collection, document management, and team resources.
- Build and improve workflows using Power Automate and integrations with Microsoft 365 tools.
- Manage permissions, support access requests, and conduct routine user access audits to reduce unnecessary licenses and improve governance.
- Develop and maintain dashboards that visualize safety metrics and operational data in collaboration with regional teams.
- Connect to multiple data sources, transform data for analysis, and support reliable reporting outputs.
- Help improve dashboard usability so leaders and site teams can understand and act on safety information.
- Create, maintain, and improve SQL Server Reporting Services reports for safety and operational data.
- Optimize queries and report performance to improve reliability, usability, and reporting efficiency.
- Maintain report documentation, version control, and process notes so reporting products remain supportable.
- Assist users with access to safety tools, reporting systems, SharePoint resources, and related workflows.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide clear guidance, training materials, or documentation where needed.
- Serve as a practical liaison between safety teams and IT/Data support teams to resolve issues and improve system use.
Attributes for Success
- Technically curious and practical — able to solve problems without overcomplicating the solution.
- Service-minded — focused on making systems easier for users and more useful for the safety function.
- Detail-oriented — attentive to data quality, permissions, documentation, and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborative — comfortable working with safety, IT, data, regional, and site-based teams.
- Reliable under routine reporting pressure — able to support recurring deadlines while improving the process.
A Day in the Life
You may start the day checking report outputs, resolving a Power BI refresh issue, or validating data before a weekly safety performance report is distributed. Later, you may update a SharePoint page, adjust permissions for a site user, document an SSRS report change, or help a regional team understand how to access and use a dashboard.
Some days are focused on troubleshooting. Others are focused on improvement: simplifying a workflow, cleaning up user access, reducing manual reporting steps, or helping safety leaders get clearer information faster. Across all of it, the role keeps the systems behind safety reporting dependable and useful.
Qualifications:
- Strong IT background with hands-on experience in SharePoint, Power BI, and SSRS required
- Working knowledge of safety reporting standards, safety data practices, or operational reporting environments required
- Ability to understand basic SQL, data modeling concepts, source data relationships, and reporting logic required
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to support users at varying technical levels required
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain reliable follow-through required
Working knowledge of mining processes for open pit, processing, and underground are beneficial to the role as they help inform the context of the work you are doing and the teams you’ll be helping preferred
Experience supporting reporting or systems in mining, industrial safety, heavy industry, or another high-risk operational environment preferred
