Bartender
Essential Functions
- Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants, in accordance with service standards.
- Anticipate Guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all Guests, making recommendations from guests’ preferences.
- Take Guests’ food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
- Complete opening duties as assigned, including check quality and quantity of all bar stock and supplies using checklist.
- Requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar.
- Set bar according to service standards.
- Set up all condiments (garnishes, juices, etc.) and beverages according to standards.
- Prepare all fresh fruit garnishes according to service standards.
- Ensure a sufficient supply of all flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service.
- Ensure cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas.
- Set upside stations with supplies and equipment.
- Record orders of guests into the point-of-sale system and receive payment following service procedures.
- Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies.
- Open wine/champagne bottles and serve in accordance with service standards.
- Retrieve food orders from kitchen.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
- Guide the activities of the bar back to ensure optimum service to Guests.
- Remove soiled wares from bar. Clean and wipe down bar immediately after Guest departs.
- Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
- Complete closing duties and reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor or Manager on Duty.
- Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required.
- Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards.
- Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations.
- Follow safety and security procedures.
- Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.
- Adhere to attendance and reliability standards.
- Follow all additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities
- Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
- Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision.
- Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task efficiently.
- Must be able to speak and understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must possess excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to push, pull bend, squat and lift on a regular basis.
- Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required tools and equipment.
- Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up.
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
- Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
- Knowledgeable and ensure compliance of all state liquor regulations.
- Knowledgeable of beverages, recipes and correct glassware and garnishes.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalence required
Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a barback or bartender in a hotel or restaurant.
Additional: Must be at least 21 years of age. Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs.
