Become an On‑Demand Responder
On-Demand Medical Responder (EMT, Paramedic, or Nurse) — Flexible Local Assignments
Use your medical skills around your schedule.
Amphibious Medics is building a nationwide network of credentialed EMTs, paramedics, and nurses who can provide on-site occupational first aid and related health services when clients need local support. This is flexible, assignment-based field work designed to fit around your primary job, school, family, or other commitments. You choose whether to accept each available assignment. Before accepting, you will receive key details such as the location, requested arrival time, expected duration, service type, and compensation. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of assignments or earnings. This is not ambulance transport or a substitute for 911. Responders work within Amphibious Medics protocols, their credentials, and the first-aid scope authorized for the assignment. Emergencies are escalated to 911 or the appropriate outside medical provider.
How it works
- Get approved. Complete credential verification, screening, and required onboarding.
- Set your availability. Receive opportunities that match your qualifications and coverage area.
- Review and choose. See the assignment details before accepting. You may decline any unaccepted opportunity without penalty.
- Respond, document, and get paid. Travel to the client site, provide authorized services, communicate with the Amphibious Medics coordinator, complete required documentation, and receive payment according to the disclosed terms.
Your coverage area
You may receive opportunities for client locations that are up to approximately 90 minutes from your home address. This is the outer matching area for potential opportunities—not a universal 90-minute response requirement. Each offer will show the site area and required arrival time. Review the details and accept only when you can safely reach the location within the stated response window.
Typical assignments
- Respond to a workplace injury to provide an assessment and first aid care.
- Consult with the Amphibious Medics coordinator or telehealth/medical support as required.
- Recommend referral to an outside provider or activate 911 when indicated.
- Complete accurate, timely incident documentation.
- Perform pre-employment health screenings after training.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing after training and authorization.
Assignments may occur at construction projects, industrial facilities, hospitality locations, film and television productions, events, data centers, or other client sites. Frequency varies by market and client demand.
What you will see before accepting

- Requested arrival time or response window
- Assignment type and authorized scope
- Estimated assignment duration
- Compensation and any minimum payment
- Mileage, toll, parking, equipment, or cancellation terms, when applicable

Compensation and work status
- Work status: Responders in California and New York are W-2 employees. Responders in other states participate as 1099 independent contractors, subject to applicable law and the written agreement provided during onboarding.
- Compensation is paid per assignment, not as a guaranteed hourly schedule.
- Minimum assignment payment: $100.
- Standard duration-based rates: $175 for a half-day assignment of up to four hours and $300 for a full-day assignment of up to eight hours.
- Assignment pay may vary based on the service, complexity, duration, market, or other job-specific requirements. The exact payment will be displayed before acceptance.
- Travel, mileage, tolls, and parking: Amphibious Medics does not currently maintain a separate standard reimbursement policy for these expenses. Any assignment-specific exception must be disclosed in the offer or confirmed by coordination staff before acceptance.
- Client cancellation after dispatch: If you have been confirmed for an assignment and the assignment is canceled while you are already traveling to it, you will receive a minimum payment of $100.
- Pay schedule: Payment is made by direct deposit approximately one week after the assignment is completed.
Compensation is disclosed before you accept an assignment. Opportunities depend on client demand, geography, credentials, and availability; assignments and earnings are not guaranteed.
Required qualifications
- A current, unrestricted eligible credential: National Registry or state EMT certification, paramedic certification/license, RN license, or LPN/LVN license. All of these credential categories are eligible for the program; responders must work within the lawful scope of their credential and the scope authorized for each assignment.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to local client sites
- Smartphone with reliable voice and data service for assignment communication and documentation
- Ability to work independently, follow protocols, protect confidential information, and communicate calmly
- Ability to lift and carry at least 35 pounds and safely walk, stand, climb stairs, and navigate active construction or industrial environments
Helpful experience
- Occupational health, workplace first aid, construction, industrial, event, or set-medic experience
- Familiarity with OSHA first-aid requirements and 29 CFR 1910
- Workers’ compensation or return-to-work experience
- Drug/alcohol testing or pre-employment screening experience
- First Aid/CPR/AED instructor credentials
What Amphibious Medics provides
- Training in Amphibious Medics protocols, incident documentation, and authorized screening services
- Assignment details before acceptance
- Coordinator support during active incidents
- At the majority of client locations, the required equipment and supplies are already on site. First-aid kits or On-Call gear kits generally contain the assessment tools and first-aid supplies needed for a response. Clients also provide the drug-screening materials or other supplies needed for authorized non-treatment services.
- If required supplies are unavailable, raise the issue with the coordinator assigned to the call. Identify and verify which supplies are needed or were required for that specific response. The coordinator will document the need and provide approval for eligible supply reimbursement.
- Access to additional set-medic, event, part-time, and full-time opportunities as available
- Ongoing education and quality feedback
Reliability and safety expectations
You are free to decline an unaccepted opportunity without penalty. Once you confirm an assignment, Amphibious Medics relies on you to arrive within the stated window, follow site and safety requirements, remain within the authorized scope, communicate changes immediately, and complete all documentation. Backing out of a confirmed assignment or arriving late will be documented in your responder record. If an unavoidable problem arises, notify the coordination team immediately. Never enter or remain in an unsafe environment; contact the coordinator and activate emergency resources when appropriate.
Is this a good fit?
This program may be a strong fit if you:
- Want supplemental, flexible medical work rather than guaranteed scheduled hours
- Can travel to client sites on short notice when you choose to accept
- Are comfortable working independently with remote coordinator support
- Can move between clinical care, client communication, and detailed documentation
- Understand that most assignments involve occupational first aid—not ambulance response or hospital-level care
This program may not be a fit if you need guaranteed weekly hours, cannot reliably travel to field locations, or are seeking primarily emergency/ALS response work.
