Sonnenberg Consultants is hiring Behavior Technicians and Registered Behavior Technicians to join our ABA team at our Development & Community Center (DCC) in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

At the Development & Community Center, our focus is helping learners build skills that support greater independence throughout childhood and into adulthood. What this role is really like

As a Behavior Technician, you’ll provide hands-on, individualized support while helping learners build communication, social, coping, independence, and functional skills identified by their clinical team.

This is an active, highly dynamic role where learners may engage in behaviors that interfere with learning, participation, communication, or safety, including behaviors that may be significant or dangerous. You’ll implement individualized behavior support plans, help reduce interfering behavior, teach replacement and coping skills, and use appropriate de-escalation strategies when learners become escalated or dysregulated. Resilience and flexibility are essential, as you’ll need to remain calm, pivot when plans change unexpectedly, and adjust your approach based on what the learner needs in the moment. You’ll also help learners build resilience by teaching them to tolerate changes, cope with frustration, communicate their needs, and recover from difficult moments.

You’ll work closely with BCBAs and other team members, receiving ongoing training and coaching to respond safely and effectively to challenging situations. This position is best suited for someone who can stay composed under pressure, think on their feet, accept feedback, and remain focused on the learner even when situations are unpredictable or difficult.

What you’ll do

  • Implement individualized ABA programs with guidance and supervision from BCBAs
  • Support learners during structured activities, transitions, routines, and other daily activities
  • Use structured activities and evidence-based strategies to support skill development
  • Help learners build communication, social, functional, and daily living skills
  • Support the development of independence across age-appropriate activities and routines
  • Follow individualized behavior support plans and respond to challenging behavior according to training and established procedures
  • Collect and document information about learner activities and progress using provided technology
  • Communicate observations and questions to supervisors and members of the learner’s team
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and professional environment for learners and coworkers
  • Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and feedback
