BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COUNSELOR

OVERVIEW:

The Behavioral Health Counselor provides individual and group counseling services to residents experiencing mental health and substance use disorders, helping them develop skills and strategies to support recovery and overall well-being. This role also involves completing and maintaining accurate clinical documentation and program records in compliance with agency requirements. Available on a full-time or part-time basis, the position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work remotely for a portion of the week. (LISW/LPCC)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative

• Submits monthly reports and plans of action on any deficits noted.
• Meets weekly with case managers to review assigned resident progress and/or problems and provides guidance on the same.
• Attends treatment team meetings as needed to discuss resident progress and concerns.
• Meets as needed with case managers to review assigned resident progress and/or problems.
• Meets with Clinical Director weekly in regards to required clinical supervision.

PROGRAM/ACTIVITIES:

Direct Services

• Provides individual, and group counseling services when clinically indicated.
• Provides as-needed diagnostic assessments of adults as appropriate.
• Provides crisis intervention services as needed and clinically indicated.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work or another related field required.
• Independent licensure with the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as a L.P.C.C. or L.I.S.W.
• Prior experience in mental health and substance abuse services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds.
