Behavioral Health Technician

CRi is a well-known non-profit organization located throughout Northern VA, Richmond VA, and Maryland that is dedicated to providing quality services to enable individuals with a wide range of disabilities to live as independently as possible.

Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in providing specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders in our Mental Health Group Home. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the BHT ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health needs in a compassionate and therapeutic manner.
• Implement and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
• Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
• Administer medications per protocol and monitor responses.
• Facilitate therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
• Ensure safety and security by following established protocols.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Associate degree.

· Registered or eligible for registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).

· Evidence of completion of 40 hours of didactic education in a program recognized or approved by the board.

· Previous experience in behavioral health, residential, or human services preferred.

· Valid driver’s license with good record.

· Ability to manage crises, communicate effectively, and perform physical interventions if needed.

Physical Demands:

Requires light and/or heaving lifting, repetitive bending, sight, hearing, and ability to move with ease.

Working Environment:

Residential setting, indoor and outdoor program site and various community locations.
