Position Summary:
The Ideation Center is the think tank arm of Strategy& that focuses on thought leadership and growth of a number of distinct functional capabilities, such as behavioral economics, evidence generation, foresight, and innovation as a service. Within this context, the Ideation Center is growing its behavioral science capacity to work on the application of behavioral insights into a variety of policy areas and for a number of projects and programs. The Behavioral Science Manager will work directly within the Behavioral Insights Unit at the Ideation Center to manage and support in the application of behavioral science into different projects and programs as well as client engagement.
This job is a two-year full-time contract.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
• Manage the end-to-end delivery management of behavioral science projects including: proposal development, project, content and client management
• Manage a team of behavioral scientists and data analysts at the behavioral insights unit
• Manage the implementation of thorough behavioral diagnostics related to different policy challenges, this includes mixed research methods tools (e.g., surveys, focus groups, interviews,…)
• Lead the ideation and the design of science-backed behavioral interventions and solutions for public policy applications
• Manage the implementation and the monitoring of field behavioral experiments in collaboration with internal and external team members
• Lead the analysis of secondary and primary data with the help of statistical software
• Develop appropriate research questions, design research protocols, conceptualize methodologies, such as data collection plans, analysis plans, and data interpretation
• Identify behavioral science opportunities in the current projects and programs within the Government and with various Strategy& practices (e.g. public sector, healthcare, transport, environment, etc.)
• Understand and structure client needs and requirements to research and tackle them effectively using the insights from behavioral science
• Identify relevant literature or concepts from the behavioral sciences related to Government and various sector related challenges
• Manage a variety of research activities related to behavioral analysis, behavioral experiments, policy research, and projects
• Support in tailoring content to different contexts and audiences related to behavioral insights
• Support in developing training materials related to behavioral science and evidence-based approaches
• Contribute to the writing process by developing reports, papers, and policy briefs and working closely with editors and counterparts
• Keep abreast of the latest scientific research and development on the application of behavioral insights into relevant and related public policy and government practice
• Assist the team in relevant research activities as needs arise
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in behavioral science or economics, economics, experimental economics, neuroscience, decision science, social sciences, social policy or any related field is required
• Practical work experience in a behavioral science consulting, strategy consulting or other related field
• 8+ years of managerial experience combined with applied research experience, particularly in the field of behavioral science or impact evaluation
• Demonstrated expertise running and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative research, including focus group discussions, interviews, field observations, etc.
• Previous experience working in a social impact consulting organization, international organization, management consulting and/or policy or think tank is highly desirable
